The 11th Kowloon Group Air Scout Troop was established in 1967. It is the first Air Scout Troop in Hong Kong.
We launched our new recruitment scheme in early September. The result was satisfactory. The training programme followed. The aim of the training programme this year was to let members of Form 2 or above to get the Scout Standard of the Scout Association of Hong Kong. The basic skills of Scouting, which include the fundamentals of camping, cooking and exploring, are covered in the Scout Standard. We also wanted the new members to enjoy the life of Scouts, and to be in command of more skills.
Our annual Christmas Camp was held on 28-30th December 1997, at Gilwell Campsite. Our members learned a lot of scoutcrafts. With the help of our scouters, the camp was happily and successfully attended.
We offered services at different school events, such as the Swimming Gala and the Sports Day. We had a stall in the Caritas Bazaar this year, too. Through these functions, our members learned how to help other people, and to spread the Baden-Powell spirit.
Finally, we would like to acknowledge the support and advice of Mr. Norman So, Mr. Damien Yue, Mr. Howard Lai, Mr. C.M. Hau and other scouters.
