The Performing Arts Society 1997-98 was formed in mid-September. Our advisors advised that it was better to participate in drama production rather than being the chief organizer.
At the beginning of the year, we participated in the Hong Kong Joint School Drama Association (JSDA) as a member. They organized several acting and back stage management courses. Some of our ex-co members had attended these courses. On the 17th and 18th of July, 1998, the Joint School Drama Night produced by JSDA staged their production. Some students of our school had been the main actors of the drama performance.
In November, we co-organized an event with La Salle College, St. Joseph's College, St. Rose of Lima' s School, Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School, Wah Yan College, Hong Kong and Ying Wa Girl's School to produce the Joint School Drama Night 98 (JSDN). The script was written by the students from these schools. It was along the lines of Shakespeare's famous work -- Hamlet. All profit was donated to the Project Orbis. It was staged on the 19th and 20th August 1998 at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre. Audition of JSDN was held in May just after the courses organized by us. The drama production was a great success by the teamwork of the organizing schools.
Here, I would like to thank our principal, Mr. Norman So, our advisors Mr. Gary So and Mr. Leung Yiu Kwong for their honorable advice and guidance. I'm confident that the Society will have a brighter future.
